1/7th of the way there...

Volume 1 - Advanced Tech Focused Workbook is complete. There's 5 volumes in total plus 2 additional Boot Camp workbooks. Took notes in a notebook for once and I now I think I just have to review before moving on.

There's a lot of info and much to retain, let's see how much sticks :)

New Approach... after Narbik's class.

So I'm taking Narbik's advice and will work through all of his material at least twice. My original plan as was to review for a week after the class, not knowing how much I didn't know at the time, but that isn't realistic any more. I'll spend about a month or a bit more reviewing all his material, taking notes on things I don't know or are unsure of, reviewing my notes and then moving on to practice labs.

I'll post my progress as often as I can and since the Holidays are just around the corner it'll be hard to dedicate time but I guess we all have to manage.

Micronics Training.

So I completed Narbik's class last Friday and to sum it up in 1 word, imperative. This is a must attend class for CCIE candidates that not only want to pass the test but understand how to become a better engineer. Like many other people have stated, its 40% chalk time and 60% lab, he's extremely knowledgeable and my impression was that he's genuine. He cares about your success and he teaches the technology from the ground up making sure you understand the behavior of the protocols and why they were designed in certain way, what problems they were meant to resolve.

I recommend his class to anyone who's serious about their certification just be prepared to work/study long hours, it's well worth it. If you have any specific questions, feel free to unicast me, Andrew@netengineer.org.

On to reviewing the material...

Leaving for Narbik's in 2 days.

So I finished GAP and S2Ns which keeps me on track to be prepared for class. There are definitely things I hadn't seen before and learned but will I be able to recall all those things when I need to? I hope that with practice, I will. When I get back from class, I'll spend a week reviewing the class since it should be relatively fresh in my head and then from that point on it's 8 hour practice test... I'll schedule my exam when I get through the 8 practices labs in 4 hours with a passing score of 95. Trying to set the bar high. :)

I'll report back after the class!

1 week before camp.

I finished IP services and there are TONs of things that I didn't know and still don't know you can do on Cisco Routers. One thing I thought was interesting was the hiding of the prompts, I can't find any practical use for it, but I sure can think of some pranks to pull... :)

Anyhow, I should be done with NAT today and that'll leave me with v6 which I don't believe will be difficult at all.

Review until I leave, absorb as much as I can while I'm there and hope I get to the next level when I'm done.
